Perflourinated Fiber
Perfluorinated Graded Index Plastic Fiber Optic
Perfluorinated graded-index polymer optical fibers (GI-POFs) are best known for their high data transmission rates and low attenuation in the range of 850 – 1300. Perfluorinated fiber is also much more affordable than other high performance fiber types such as glass. Graded Index fiber provide a higher transmission bandwidth than any other type of plastic optical fiber and are easy to use and install.

Perfluorinated fiber has a relatively flat spectrum due to the perfluorinated polymer material used which makes it best suited for the applications of wavelengths such as 650 nm, 850 nm, 1310 nm, and 1490 nm. In the area of visible and infrared spectral regions perfluorinated graded index fiber has an attenuation that is 10 times lower than that of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) fiber optics.
